Zyan Gibson, No. 56 recruit for 2026, commits to Alabama
Alabama Secures Commitment from Four-Star DB Zyan Gibson on Christmas Eve
In a significant boost to their 2026 recruiting class, Alabama football announced the commitment of four-star defensive back Zyan Gibson, who made his decision known on Christmas Eve. The 6-foot-1 cornerback from Gadsden, Alabama, is currently ranked as the No. 56 prospect overall and No. 8 at his position in the ESPN Junior 300. Gibson selected Alabama over offers from notable programs such as Tennessee, Auburn, and Miami, solidifying his status as the state’s third-ranked recruit in the 2026 cycle.
During his junior year at Gadsden City High School, Gibson showcased his talent with 37 tackles, further establishing his reputation as a rising star in college football recruiting. Notably, he shares a previous connection with Alabama’s own freshman defensive back, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. The younger Gibson’s father, Michael, played defensive line at Ole Miss in the early 2000s, demonstrating a strong football lineage.
Gibson’s commitment marks a positive development for Alabama after facing recent decommitments from several ESPN 300 prospects. His recruitment was spearheaded by defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist. As the Crimson Tide prepares to cap off a strong recruiting cycle, they will also look forward to their postseason bout against Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl on December 31, concluding a 9-3 season.
