Shooting in Etowah County leaves man and woman dead, 1 in custody
A shooting incident in Etowah County resulted in the deaths of two individuals, prompting a substantial law enforcement response. At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Coats Bend Circle following a report of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham but was later pronounced dead, while the second victim was declared dead at the scene.
Authorities quickly began gathering information from the 911 call and examining the site of the shooting, which led them to identify a potential suspect. The name of the suspect has not yet been disclosed. Law enforcement agencies from Ashville, Steele, and Rainbow City assisted in taking the suspect into custody shortly thereafter.
As the investigation continues, sheriff’s officials have stated that further information will not be released at this stage. Additionally, the identities of the victims are being withheld until their families have been notified.
