Gadsden Police Department’s Narcotics Unit Cracks Down on Drug Activity
The Gadsden Police Department’s newly established Narcotics Unit has made significant strides in combating drug-related issues in the community, recently seizing multiple firearms and a substantial quantity of suspected drugs. According to a press release from the city, Mayor Craig Ford emphasized the city’s zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, asserting that sufficient resources have been allocated to empower the new unit in their efforts to cleanse the streets of dangerous substances.
The toxic haul includes suspected types of synthetic marijuana, mushrooms, methamphetamine, ecstasy, and other illicit drugs, all of which have been submitted to the state for further analysis. Since its inception in early October, the Narcotics Unit has diligently worked on various undercover cases, leading to over 70 criminal charges being filed against individuals involved in drug trafficking and possession.
Mayor Ford expressed gratitude towards Chief Lamar Jaggears, Sgt. Jacob Entrekin, and the entire team within the department for their commitment to tackling the drug problem head-on. The ailing impact of drug abuse is a pressing concern in Gadsden, and the efforts of the Narcotics Unit illustrate a proactive approach to enhancing public safety and ensuring a healthier community.
