Gadsden’s First Friday returns Aug. 2
Downtown Gadsden is set to celebrate its monthly First Friday event on August 2, from 6 to 9 p.m., inviting both residents and visitors to enjoy an evening of dining, shopping, classic cars, live music, and the arts along Broad Street. To facilitate festivities, the street will close to traffic at 4 p.m. for setup.
The entertainment lineup features various performers across multiple locations: Comic Mischief at 2nd and Broad, Gospel Truth at 3rd, Tad of Jazz at 4th, The Wheelers at 5th, and the Gadsden City High School Band in the 600 block. Downtown Gadsden Inc. Executive Director Kay Moore anticipates a strong turnout and advises attendees to stay hydrated and monitor the weather. Additionally, visitors should keep an eye out for classic cars that may need to depart early.
Participants are encouraged to explore the Gadsden Museum of Art and the Center for Cultural Arts during the event. Certain guidelines will be in place, prohibiting pets, personal coolers, glass containers, skateboards, and fundraising activities. Additional parking will be available at Foote Brothers Carpet One on 2nd and Locust Streets.
Following First Friday, the Summer Concert series will continue at The Amp, featuring Rubik’s Groove performing hits from the 80s to the 2000s. Both occasions are free to attend. For more details, visit downtowngadsden.com.
