Magneco/Metrel has grand opening in Gadsden
Magneco/Metrel celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated plant in Gadsden, Alabama, on Friday, marking a significant milestone following an $8 million investment in the former Gulf States Steel site. Originally scheduled to open in the fall of 2025, the plant commenced operations a year earlier, thanks to strong collaboration with the City of Gadsden, the Industrial Development Authority, and local suppliers. CEO Chuck Conners announced that the facility currently employs 20 skilled workers, with plans for future expansion.
Headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, Magneco/Metrel specializes in refractory manufacturing and is recognized as a pioneer in colloidal bonded monolithic refractory technology. Their primary product, Metpump, serves critical refractory applications, catering to various industrial needs. The company boasts a global presence, with manufacturing, warehousing, and service centers located on multiple continents.
The Gadsden plant is expected to play a vital role in supporting the company’s growth and meeting increasing market demand.
