The Gadsden Police Department (GPD) reported that officers responded to the intersection of Rainbow Drive and Lakewood Drive around 3:17 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered a female victim who had sustained a gunshot wound; fortunately, her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
According to the GPD, the suspect allegedly fired a weapon at the victim from his vehicle before fleeing the scene towards Interstate 459. The situation escalated when the Rainbow City Police Department identified the suspect’s vehicle, described as a Jeep truck, and conducted a traffic stop. Tommy Smith from Oxford was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.
