2024 ASWA High School Football Rankings: Week 2
The Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) has released its latest high school football rankings, reflecting teams’ performances across all classifications as sanctioned by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA). The Class 7A rankings are led by Central-Phenix City, the 2023 champion, boasting a perfect 2-0 record and 216 points, followed closely by Enterprise and Thompson. In Class 6A, Saraland takes the top spot with 193 points and a 2-0 record, while defending champion Clay-Chalkville ranks third.
Guntersville leads Class 5A, having notched a flawless 2-0 record, while Jackson claims the top position in Class 4A. The Class 3A leaderboard features T.R. Miller and Gordo, both at 2-0, sharing the spotlight with Mobile Christian, the reigning champion. In Class 2A, Pisgah and Highland Home stand out, with the former leading the rankings. For Class 1A, Wadley holds the top spot, remaining undefeated at 2-0.
The rankings also highlight private school achievements in the AISA classification with Chambers Academy, Lowndes Academy, and Banks Academy making notable appearances.
The ASWA plays a crucial role in promoting high school sports in Alabama, conducting regular rankings and awards, including the prestigious Mr. Football title. The voting panel is composed of various sports journalists statewide, who provide insights into team performances throughout the season.
